We want to create community.

They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles.  All the believers were together and had everything in common.
— Acts 2:42-44, The Bible

St. John’s has existed as a worshipping community which is part of the wider community of Ellel for hundreds of years and we want to honour the role that those in the past have played and build on this heritage. We create community in the following three ways

We are Welcoming

  • We desire to be a community marked by its warm embrace, a place where everyone is welcome, a place that feels like home

We are Hospitable

  • We extend hospitality to all, acknowledging that hospitality is more than food and drinks and requires a posture of humility to the other whether friend or stranger. Whenever we do provide food and drink at services and events, to offer the best we can.

  • We create a space where people belong which will take a different shape for everyone.

We are Engaged

  • We are engaged with our local community. Seeking out opportunities to support our local community and be involved in the life of our village.

  • We provide good pastoral care to those who are suffering in our community for whatever reason.
